He enlisted July 30, 1775, as a private in the Eighth Company, William J. Hubbel, Captain, of the Seventh Regiment, Charles Webb, Colonel, of the Connecticut Continental Troops and served until Sept 30, 1775, when he was honorably discharged. during this time the regiment was stationed at various points along Long Island Sound. He undoubtedly enlisted again as he was pensioned Mar. 18, 1818, under a statute which required nine months service.

Served as a private in captain Stephen Hall's Company, 7th Connecticut regiment, commanded by Colonel Heman Swift. He enlisted January 23, 1777, for the war and was discharged June 8, 1780.
